AJ
June 2000 - January 2007
Our beloved AJ was diagnosed with adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) in March 2006. Over the course of ten months, the disease progressed rapidly until AJ lost his battle and died on January 22, 2007.
AJ’s brothers, Blake, age 7, and William, age 3, have also tested positive for ALD and are currently in treatment at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland where doctors are working to prevent the onset of symptoms in the two boys.
One of the ways AJ’s mother Jaimie and the family have chosen to cope with this tragedy is to join with the Adrenoleukodystropy (ALD) Foundation to establish a fund in AJ’s name. The fund, called “AJ’s Wish,” will be used to help support the work of the ALD Foundation to educate families whose children are afflicted with ALD and to promote public awareness of this rare disease which has robbed AJ and us of his great promise. We hope you will help make his legacy one of hope for other families suffering with ALD. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to “AJ’s Wish.”
On behalf of Jaimie, AJ, Blake and William and the rest of our family, thank you for your support of the ALD Foundation. It will help turn our family’s pain into something positive.
With our sincere gratitude,
The MacNeill Family
