Dr. Horwitz received his MD PhD from Indiana University in 1988 before doing his clinical training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology Oncology and his laboratory postdoctoral work at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Horwitz is the international authority on mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). He was also the first investigator to infuse allogeneic MSCs into patients. Dr. Horwitz’s current research is focused on furthering knowledge of the MSC biology as well as advancing MSC therapy for hematologic and non-hematologic disorders.
